Safety Officers According to The Factories Act 1948 In every factory :- wherein  one thousand(1000) or more workers are ordinarily employed , or wherein, in the  opinion of the State Government , any manufacturing process or operation is carried on, which  process or operation involves any risk of bodily injury ,  poisoning or disease or any other hazard to health, to the person employed in the factory , the occupier shall, if so required by the State Government by notification in Official Gazette, employ such number of Safety Officers as may be specified in that notification. Anything which has potential to cause harm is known as hazard. Anything means anything. Examples are as below: 1-       Sharp protruded nail is hazard. 2-       Hot machine surface is hazard. 3-       Rotating coupling part without machine guard is hazard. 4-       High speed diesel vapors are chemical hazard. 5-       Open wire, damage insulation, puncture wire are examples of electrical hazard. 6-       Fall from height is work at height hazard. 7-       Broken welding holder exposing conductor is also an electrical hazard. 8-       Slippery portable ladder rung is also a hazard. 9-       Hanging load is also a hazard. 10-    Potholes, hole in floor are also examples of hazard. It is followed by checklist or non checklist method , Multidisciplinary team based approach, on scheduled intervals, compliance review and further action planning. It helps in identifying potential hazards at the workplace and mitigation of same in time bounded manner. Safety audit means verifying the effectiveness of Health and Safety management system in an organization. It measures actual implementation of Health and safety standard against the standard. It is also followed by standard Health and safety management system .i.e OHSAS 18001 etc, multidisciplinary team based, periodic, compliance review and feedback loop for further decision making by top management.
